iPhone 16 Pro Green Camera Light Turns On Without Apps Running

I have been experiencing a highly disturbing issue on my iPhone 16 Pro (Turkey model) for about 3–4 months. Every time I pick up or lift the phone, the green camera indicator light at the top of the home screen turns on by itself, stays active for about 5 seconds, and then turns off. During this time, no apps are running in the background, the camera is not open, and I am not using any social media or camera-related features. Despite this, the camera behaves as if it is actively doing something for several seconds every single time.

This behavior gives the impression that the camera is accessing or recording something in the background. The same issue continues even after a full factory reset. It is clear that only the operating system is accessing the camera. I do not believe the camera is turning on “for no reason.” If no recording or data processing is taking place, then why does the camera activate automatically every time I pick up the phone and shut off seconds later? This situation causes serious concern regarding privacy and security.

I have contacted Apple Support multiple times and followed all recommended steps, including resetting the device. Despite this, I was told that it is impossible for the operating system to leak data, that this is not something to worry about, that software behavior is not covered by warranty, and that this type of behavior is considered normal. In other words, even though the camera is clearly activating, I was given no clear or satisfactory explanation, only reassurances that it is insignificant. Although my device is stated to be under warranty, no concrete solution or official explanation regarding the source of this behavior has been provided.

At this point, I have been forced to cover both the front and rear cameras with tape and use the phone this way. I have also realized that this issue is not limited to my device alone, as similar behavior has been reported on other phones. For this reason, I now feel compelled to raise this matter more seriously.

I am requesting that Apple Turkey provide a clear, written explanation of why the camera on my device activates automatically every time, and, if necessary, conduct a detailed technical investigation to clearly identify the source of this behavior. If there is any situation that threatens my personal privacy, I demand that it be resolved immediately. As a user, I do not want such a critical privacy concern to be dismissed as “unimportant.”
