Hotspot Shield blocked by my network — How can I bypass VPN blocks?

If Hotspot Shield is blocked by your network and you want to bypass VPN blocks safely;

Confirm that the VPN is actually being blocked;

• Try connecting on different networks (mobile data vs Wi-Fi)
• Check if Hotspot Shield works on another device
• See whether the app shows connection errors or endless connecting
• Confirm if other VPNs are also blocked on the same network

Change VPN connection settings;

• Open Hotspot Shield → Settings / Connection
• Switch between protocols (Automatic, TCP, UDP if available)
• Enable “Use HTTPS / fallback mode” if the option exists
• Turn off smart routing and reconnect

Test alternative networks;

• If blocked on office/school Wi-Fi, try mobile hotspot
• Some ISPs block VPNs, but mobile networks often don’t
• Public Wi-Fi may also restrict VPN traffic

Check firewall / DNS interference;

• Temporarily disable custom DNS or ad-blockers
• Reset network settings if connections keep failing
• Ensure no firewall or antivirus is blocking VPN traffic

Update or reinstall Hotspot Shield;

• Update the app to the latest version
• Fully uninstall and reinstall Hotspot Shield
• Log back in and reconnect
