Gate.io Taobot (Alpha) Tokens Cannot Be Sold Due to Changing MOQ
I am writing regarding an ongoing and unresolved problem with the Taobot (Alpha) token on Gate.io spot trading that began on April 7, 2026 and is still continuing. I purchased a total of 447 Taobot tokens across April 1 and 2, when the token’s market cap was around 7.5 million USD, and my total investment was approximately 263 USD. Currently, the value of these tokens is displayed as about 87.71 USD, yet I am effectively unable to sell them because of how Gate.io has handled the minimum order quantity and the sell function. Nearly three months ago, I bought extra tokens specifically to meet Gate.io’s changing minimum sell quantities. However, instead of stabilizing, the required minimum order quantity for selling kept jumping arbitrarily from hundreds to thousands of tokens. For example, if I tried to sell 100 Taobot tokens, the system demanded a minimum order quantity of 2014 tokens, and when I tried to sell 447 tokens, it suddenly required around 9000 tokens. At this point, the sell button has become completely unresponsive, so I am effectively blocked from exiting my position, despite having sufficient balance. When I raised this issue with Gate.io support, they repeatedly gave the same scripted response, blaming “low liquidity” and “Alpha risk” while refusing any compensation or concrete solution. I carefully read the Taobot Alpha risk page and shared a screenshot with them, clearly stating: “Where does it say that no matter how volatile the liquidity – it will always adjust the MOQ according to the amount you input (MOQ of 2014 if I try to sell 100 TAOBOT tokens, and then MOQ of 9000 if I try to sell 447 tokens)? Where does it state the Minimum Order Quantity for sale fluctuates wildly? It doesn’t – which means you are being untruthful and deceiving me, the user.” Despite this, they did not address these specific points and simply repeated the same general risk explanation. Over the course of months, I have submitted detailed tickets and tried to resolve the matter through official support channels. Gate.io has consistently refused to offer any real remedy or acknowledge the misleading and inconsistent behavior of the minimum order quantity and the unresponsive sell button. In addition, I posted public reviews on platforms. Gate.io replied publicly, promising to resolve my issues, but when I continued the conversation with them via the email chain, they reverted to the same disingenuous responses they had been giving me for nearly three months, without any real assistance. My clear expectation from Gate.io is a full refund of my total investment in Taobot (Alpha), in the amount of approximately 263 USD, corresponding to the exact amount that Gate.io has in its records from when I purchased the tokens. I consider the constantly shifting minimum order quantity, the inability to sell, and the repeated scripted replies that ignore the specific problem to be bad‑faith treatment of a small investor, and I want this situation to be rectified by refunding my entire original investment.
