Frontier Airlines declined my personal item saying it falls into the category of carry-on. What's the difference?

According to Frontier Airlines guidelines:

No personal item can exceed 14 inches in height, 18 inches in width, and 8 inches in depth. Purses, totes, computer bags, briefcases, small backpacks, and diaper bags are examples. Personal items should fit under the seat in front of you and be accessible during the flight.

A larger carry-on bag is meant for the overhead bin. Including handles, wheels, and straps, it cannot exceed 24 inches tall, 16 inches wide, and 10 inches deep. No carry-on bag should weigh more than 35 pounds. Big backpacks, duffel bags, and small suitcases or wheeled bags are carry-ons.

Your personal item must meet the dimensions to avoid being considered a carry-on bag by the airline. If Frontier Airlines considers your personal item too large, you may need to adjust its size or check it as a carry-on bag.
