I paid wrong UPI on FamApp by mistake — how can I reverse or recover funds?

If you’ve sent money to the wrong UPI/UPI ID on FamApp, the system can’t automatically reverse it just because it was a mistake — UPI transfers are final once processed.

However, you can try to recover it by acting quickly and following official steps.

First, contact your bank or FamApp support immediately with the transaction details (UPI ID sent to, amount, time, transaction/UTR reference) and ask them to initiate a reversal or dispute with the recipient bank; acting within the first 24–48 hours increases your chances.

If you can reach the actual recipient, ask them to refund the amount — informal returns are often the fastest solution.

Today, my younger brother accidentally sent ₹500 by scanning a QR code through the FamPay app. This payment was transferred to the account of an unknown person, and that person is now refusing to return the money. This transaction was made today using the scanner option in FamPay, but we do not know whose QR code it was or whether it belonged to a shop or an individual. We only realized after the payment was completed that the money had been sent to the wrong person's account, and our attempts to recover the funds have been unsuccessful. We have not yet been able to contact FamPay customer care regarding this issue. I request that this incorrect transaction of ₹500 be investigated immediately and, if possible, reversed, with the amount refunded to my brother’s FamPay account. I also request information on what can be done in cases of incorrect QR code payments like this, so that similar incidents can be prevented in the future.
