Epic Games Blocked My Credit Card After 8 Years of Purchases
I’ve had my Epic Games account for over 8 years, and I’ve been using the same credit card for purchases during that time. However, on October 13th, my purchase was suddenly rejected. I tried several times, but I kept getting the same error. I even tried using different bank cards, but the issue persisted. I contacted customer service and explained the situation, and they told me to wait 24 hours as a security measure to protect my account. On October 14th, I tried again, and the same error occurred. When I reached out to them again, they repeated the same response like a broken record: wait 24 hours. On October 15th, I tried once more, but the issue continued.
I tested the same card on other platforms like Steam and Apple, and it worked perfectly everywhere else. I even called the bank since Epic kept blaming them for the problem, but the bank confirmed that there were no rejected transactions. They also mentioned that it makes no sense for the issue to occur only with Epic. Frustrated, I contacted Epic again, but now my access to customer service has been blocked. Oddly enough, when I created a new account, I was able to connect to support. I explained the issue from there, but again, I received no real solution, just the same generic response.
I’ve been buying games for 8 years, and I currently have 1,412 games in my account. It’s disappointing to see Epic treat a long-time customer like this. On Steam, when you send one message, they usually respond within 12 hours, and they always offer a resolution within 24 hours. As of October 17th, it’s been 5 days of waiting, and the problem is still unresolved.
To prove that there’s no issue with my account, I was able to purchase games using alternative payment methods, but Epic’s payment system just won’t process my card. Whenever I try to create a ticket for customer service, an error occurs. If I open a new account, I can submit the ticket just fine, but they seem to block my access from my main account. Some subscription services, like the Fortnite Crew package, can only be purchased with a credit card, and I'm stuck without any solution. I’m writing this here, but honestly, I don’t expect much, as Epic’s customer service has been completely unhelpful and unresponsive.
I managed to connect to live support no matter what, but it would be better to talk to artificial intelligence. They keep writing the same thing: wait 24 hours and try again, if it gives an error, wait 24 hours and try again. I ask what will change after 24 hours, and they send me a message to check if there is a balance on my card. Let me write the 3 things you'll hear so you don't bother: 1. Call your bank to find out why it was declined. There's no such thing; it doesn't even attempt a transaction, it gives an error directly because I deliberately entered it incorrectly to test, and it's the same error even if you leave it blank. 2. Check if it's open for shopping. I say, if it wasn't open, how would I use it on Steam or Apple, and they write the first point to me again. 3. Is it a standard compatible card? At the end of every message, the answer is the problem is with the bank. But they can't answer this: if the bank is to blame, why can I pay with GPay using İninal when an intermediary is involved? The answer is the same, the first point.
