DeepL Prevented Me From Exercising My 14-Day Withdrawal Right
On May 11, 2026, my DeepL Translate Pro Annual subscription was automatically renewed without any clear notice, and $344.88 USD was charged to my İş Bankası Maximum credit card. Because I had not used the service for a long time, I had forgotten that the subscription was set to renew. I became aware of the renewal only after I noticed the charge on my credit card statement.
Since I did not wish to continue the subscription, I attempted to submit three separate cancellation and refund requests on the same day. However, each attempt failed because the system repeatedly displayed an "unverified email address" message and redirected me to verify my email. Even though I verified my email address multiple times, I was still unable to access or submit my support requests. As a result, I was effectively prevented from exercising my right to withdraw from the contract.
According to Section 11 (Right of Withdrawal) of DeepL's own Terms and Conditions, consumers have the right to withdraw from the agreement within 14 days without providing any reason. I attempted to exercise this right several times within that legal period by requesting cancellation and a refund. Today, I also canceled my subscription through the support system.
