Character.ai Age Gate Misidentifies 18-Year-Old as 10 and Issues Unjust Chat Ban
I have been an avid user of the Character.ai AI chat application for a long time; however, what I experienced today truly disappointed me. Even though I am 18 years old, the system misidentified me as a 10-year-old, leading to a complete chat ban being placed on my account.
Today, around 10:49 PM, I was prompted to submit a photo for age verification, and I submitted my photo as requested. Despite this, my photo was not properly recognized, my age was incorrectly evaluated, and my chat feature was shut down without any explanation. The system failed to provide any details regarding why it produced such a result or where the problem lay.
Facing a chat ban without any prior warning or clear explanation has left me both aggrieved and treated unfairly. I am 18 years old, and without being forced to upload my official ID card, I demand that this faulty age determination be corrected and my chat ban be lifted immediately. Furthermore, I request that the personnel responsible for operating or deploying such an error-prone system be held accountable, that a necessary investigation be conducted, and that I be provided with a clear explanation regarding the process.
