BudgetAir Passenger Charged $1,040 After Check In Problem

On August 20, 2026, I purchased a ticket through BudgetAir to travel from Washington, DC to Ankara with Qatar Airways. On the day of the flight, when I attempted to check in online through the Qatar Airways website, the system would not allow me to complete the check-in because my personal information had allegedly been entered incorrectly by BudgetAir. As a result, I was unable to board the flight.

After missing the flight, I wanted to change my ticket to the next available flight on August 25. However, I was charged an additional $520.10 per passenger, for a total of $1,040.40 for two tickets. Because my children were waiting for me in Türkiye and this was my first trip to Türkiye with my newly married spouse, I had no choice but to pay this amount to avoid missing the next flight as well. I had originally paid $879 for a round-trip ticket, so I find it extremely unfair and disproportionate to be charged an additional $1,040.40 for changing the date of only one direction of the journey for two passengers.

After experiencing this problem, I contacted both BudgetAir and Qatar Airways customer service. However, neither company provided a solution, neither accepted responsibility for the issue, and the additional fee I was charged was not refunded. I was particularly disappointed to experience such a significant inconvenience involving Qatar Airways, a brand that I had considered reliable.

I request that the inconvenience caused by this situation be addressed and that the entire additional amount of $1,040.40 charged to me be refunded. I also request a clear explanation of why the incorrect passenger information resulted in my inability to check in and why I was required to pay such a substantial additional amount to change my flight.
