Turkcell Refuses to Cancel Plan Approved Just Days Ago
I have been a Turkcell customer for many years. I previously used the Platinum 240 GB annual plan. When I ran out of my data allowance earlier than expected this year, I called customer service to find a solution. During a call on October 1, 2026, at 3:52 p.m., I agreed to switch to the Dev Star 240 GB plan. Turkcell linked the new plan to the commitment period of my previous plan, which was scheduled to end on November 20, and arranged for the new plan to start on October 20. I was told that the monthly fee would be $16, and I accepted the offer based on this information.
I would like to emphasize the following point. I am being charged $16 per month for an annual 240 GB package, which averages only about 20 GB of data per month. Meanwhile, my brother and my partner, who switched plans some time ago, were offered a plan as new customers that provides 90 GB of data per month for $18. In other words, a new customer is being offered 90 GB of monthly data for $18, while I have been a loyal customer for years and am being charged $16 for an average of only 20 GB per month. This makes me feel that I am being treated as a long-standing customer who is simply taken for granted, and I believe this is clearly unfair in terms of the price-to-benefit ratio.
Given this situation, I informed Turkcell that I wanted to cancel the newly assigned plan and that I was considering porting my number to another operator when my current commitment ended on November 20. When I called customer service again on October 4, 2026, at 3:23 p.m., I was told that they could not cancel the Dev Star 240 GB plan I had just approved. However, they said that if I called again around October 18 or 19, they could switch me to a prepaid line, after which I could port my number to another operator by paying an early termination fee for my previous plan.
I cannot accept the explanation that I have no right to withdraw from a plan that I approved only a few days ago and have not even started using in practice. If there are consumer rights that allow cancellation in other types of purchases, I do not understand why I am being told that I have no way to cancel a newly approved mobile plan under these circumstances. I am therefore requesting that the Dev Star 240 GB plan I approved be canceled, that my previous plan continue until its commitment ends on November 20 without any additional fee or early termination charge, and that nothing be done to prevent me from porting my number to another operator once my commitment expires.
I do not accept this approach of treating long-standing customers as if they can simply be taken for granted. I especially want to make clear that I do not consider myself a fool, an easy target, or someone who can be taken advantage of. I reserve all of my legal rights regarding this matter and reserve the right to pursue all available legal remedies.
