Trivago Sold a Fully Booked Hotel and Refused to Protect Our Vacation
I booked a four-day hotel stay in Belek through Trivago. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that it was fully booked and that we should “wait for your agency.” When we contacted the agency by phone, they tried to arrange alternative accommodation for us at a hotel in Kemer instead, more than 100 kilometers away. We explained that, given how tired we were and the fact that we were traveling with children, we could not accept an alternative that far away.
As a result, one full day of our four-day vacation was wasted searching for a hotel, traveling from place to place, and arguing over the phone. The agency could at least have recommended a comparable hotel in the same area, but instead, they offered us accommodation hundreds of kilometers away. This was unreasonable and only made our situation worse. We had come on vacation to relax, but this experience left us physically and emotionally exhausted.
As a result of everything that happened, we lost the deposit we had paid. The reservation was made under the name H**** D****, and I specifically request a refund of the deposit to compensate us for this distressing experience. I also urge Trivago to take immediate action to prevent similar incidents involving bookings at fully booked hotels and unreasonable alternative accommodation arrangements from happening to other customers.
