Sixt Delayed My Rental Car Pickup by Nearly Half a Day

On July 19, 2026, I had a reservation at the Sixt office at Düsseldorf Airport to pick up a prepaid black Ford vehicle with seating for eight people at around 12:00–1:00 PM. When I arrived at the airport office, despite having the contract and confirmed reservation with me, I was told that they did not have a vehicle available and that I would have to wait for a long time.

As a result, the eight of us had to travel to the city center and the Düsseldorf fairgrounds, and I incurred an additional €115 in transportation costs, including €60 for the taxi ride there and €55 for the return trip. Despite this, I was only able to receive the vehicle at around 5:00 PM, much later than the scheduled pickup time. In other words, the vehicle was delayed by almost half a day.

A Turkish employee working at the airport office continued to make us wait, did not properly assist us, and did not take our inconvenience into consideration. A female employee named Baea did her best to help us, but ultimately, the fact that a group of eight people had to wait for hours and incur additional transportation costs was not compensated in any way. We had specifically chosen Sixt because we believed it was one of the most reliable car rental companies in Germany, but we were extremely disappointed by this experience.

I request that the inconvenience I experienced be addressed, that the full €115 I spent on taxi transportation to and from the fairgrounds be refunded, and that the portion of the rental fee corresponding to the delay from the pickup time stated in the contract also be refunded to me. I request that these amounts be deposited into my bank account. After this experience, I do not plan to rent another vehicle from the same company, and I request that the incident be investigated and that I receive a written response regarding the outcome.
