Sixt Charged Me an Unexpected €160 Airport Fee
I experienced problems with both the vehicle provided and the charges during my car rental from the Sixt office at Stuttgart Airport between June 25 and July 5, 2026.
Although I made my reservation for a Volkswagen Golf, I was given a Seat Arona when I arrived to pick up the vehicle. I was told that the vehicle was in the same category, but I had specifically chosen and reserved a Golf, and I was not given any alternative options or asked for my approval before the vehicle was changed.
In addition, I was charged an extra €160 during the rental agreement process under the name of an “Airport Fee.” I believe this fee was not clearly and explicitly disclosed at the time of booking. When I later contacted Sixt about the issue, I was told that this was a standard “Premium Location Fee” associated with the operating costs of airports and similar locations and that it was included in the reservation summary. However, I was only made aware of this fee during the rental process, and I feel misled because this amount was presented as an unexpected additional expense.
To resolve the issues I experienced, I request a full refund of the €160 charged to me as an “Airport Fee.”
