Royal Mail delivery is delayed weeks during holidays — how can I speed it up?

If Royal Mail deliveries are delayed for weeks during the holidays, there is sadly no way to speed up a package that is already in the system because Royal Mail does not let you pay to speed up deliveries after they are posted.

It doesn't matter if you have a Tracked service, holiday backlogs (Christmas, Easter, strikes, peak sales events) are handled only in the order they were received.
