Fake Marlboro Gold Cigarettes in Southern Iraq, Investigation Request

1

I am writing to inform you about counterfeit and tampered cigarettes being sold under the Marlboro Gold name in southern Iraq. These products are clearly not genuine Marlboro, yet they use the Marlboro brand name, logo and color scheme, which misleads consumers and damages the reputation of your brand. Yesterday I purchased ten packs of what were presented as Marlboro Gold from a shop in a market area that operates like a duty‑free outlet in southern Iraq. After opening and trying them, it was immediately obvious that these cigarettes have nothing to do with genuine Marlboro Gold. The inside of the pack has no protective foil lining at all; the cigarettes are wrapped only in paper, so there is no proper sealing to preserve freshness, taste or aroma. The cigarettes themselves are also different from real Marlboro Gold. They have both brown and white sections, similar to older‑style cigarettes from the past, whereas genuine Marlboro Gold cigarettes are completely white and contain high‑quality tobacco. The overall tobacco quality is very poor, the packaging looks cheap and inconsistent, and the smoking experience was so bad that I found the cigarettes absolutely disgusting. Because I considered them counterfeit and did not want anyone else to use them, I destroyed all ten packs in the bathroom. I believe these are unlicensed and low‑quality tobacco products being sold fraudulently in Marlboro Gold packaging, likely as part of a clandestine and untaxed operation. This situation means that consumers are being deceived, your trademarks and trade dress are being misused, and there may also be serious health and safety risks because the contents are unknown and uncontrolled. I request that Marlboro (and the relevant company responsible for the brand) take this issue very seriously, investigate this market and the shop in southern Iraq that is selling these products, identify and stop the circulation of these counterfeit Marlboro Gold cigarettes, and ensure that such fake products are seized and destroyed. In return for safeguarding the company’s name and the quality of its products by identifying and reporting this issue, I would also like Marlboro to provide me with a financial reward or compensation for my efforts and for the money I spent on these fake packs. My intention is to help put an end to, and prevent, any actions that might compromise the company’s reputation and history. I am ready to share the photos I have taken of the packs and cigarettes and to provide further information if needed to support your investigation. For my own security, I am not including any bank card or account details in this text and will only share any payment information through a secure channel if you choose to offer a financial reward.
