PDF Guru Charged After Misleading Trial Subscription
On 29 April 2026 I paid USD 0.99 on PDF Guru in Qatar to use their service for a one‑time PDF editing need. My aim was clearly to benefit from this single use, and I was not aware that I was being signed up for any kind of recurring paid subscription. Without any clear or noticeable warning that after a 7‑day trial I would be charged a much higher amount, PDF Guru stored my Mastercard debit card details from Commercial Bank of Qatar and automatically enrolled me in a subscription. On 7 May 2026, I was charged USD 49.99, which I consider misleading and not in line with my intention when I made the initial 0.99 payment. As soon as I noticed this situation, on 6 May 2026 I immediately cancelled the subscription and contacted Pdfguru customer support by email to request a full refund of the USD 49.99, explaining that I only wanted the one‑time 0.99 service. However, they only sent automated, scripted replies referring to a non‑refundable policy, without properly addressing my case or the lack of clear information about the automatic subscription. I request that PDF Guru review this issue, cancel any ongoing subscription permanently, delete my stored card details, and provide a full refund of the USD 49.99 that was charged against my will, as I only intended to use the one‑time 0.99 service.
