If your Ledger recovery seed phrase was lost or damaged, here’s what you need to understand:
If the device still works and you know the PIN:
If you can unlock your Ledger and access your accounts, immediately create a new wallet and transfer your funds.
Steps:
• Buy a new Ledger or create a secure temporary wallet.
• Transfer all assets to the new wallet.
• Reset the old device and generate a new seed phrase.
Without a backup phrase, you risk losing access if the device fails.
If the device is reset or broken:
If you don’t have the seed phrase and the device doesn’t work, recovery is impossible. Ledger does not store your private keys and cannot restore your wallet.
If the phrase is partially damaged:
If 1–2 words are missing but you know the correct order and most words, recovery tools based on the BIP39 word list may help. However, even one incorrect word can prevent recovery.
