Intersport Rejects Puma Shoe Odor Claim Based Solely on Photographs
On May 16, 2026, I purchased a pair of Puma Tifosi sneakers from the Intersport Mall of Istanbul store for $156. I wear the shoes regularly—about every two days—and alternate them with other pairs I own. Despite this normal rotation, the shoes developed a severe, unbearable odor just one month after purchase.
Even though there is no visible damage or deformation on the inner lining, insoles, or exterior, I brought the shoes back to Intersport due to this odor issue. At the store, staff informed me that they could only take photographs of the shoes to send to the inspection team. Evaluating an odor problem solely through photos struck me as completely inadequate and illogical, and predictably, my warranty claim was subsequently rejected.
I have previously purchased shoes from brands like Reebok, Adidas, and Nike—often at lower price points—and never experienced an odor issue with any of them. I paid a higher price for this Puma pair at Intersport, and this experience has completely destroyed my trust in both Puma and Intersport.
Given that the odor issue is obvious and not the result of my usage habits, I demand that the rejection decision be re-evaluated and that a full refund be issued for these shoes. Due to this negative experience, I no longer intend to shop at Intersport or purchase Puma products in the future.
