If Hotspot Shield is draining your battery fast, start by disabling the VPN when you don’t need it; keeping any VPN running constantly uses extra power because it encrypts all your traffic in real time.
Also avoid always-on VPN or kill-switch settings unless necessary, since these force constant reconnection checks that increase CPU and network activity.
On Android, turn off battery saver restrictions for other apps only, and allow the VPN to run in the background without frequent wakeups; on iOS, keep the app updated and close other heavy apps running in the background.
Lowering the VPN protocol intensity (if your app lets you choose lighter/less secure modes like UDP over TCP) can also reduce CPU load.
Switching servers less often helps too, because reconnecting and handshakes burn extra power.
Finally, make sure Hotspot Shield itself is updated, as developers optimize performance and power use in newer releases.
These are key methods that we can offer. If you have more, please share.
