GoDaddy Support Requested My OTP but Denied the Agreed Domain Change
We contacted GoDaddy to request that our existing domain, vakiatr.com, which is associated with our registered trademark, be changed to our new brand domain, pijamavakti.com. We also provided our official trademark registration certificate to support this request. During a live chat with a GoDaddy supervisor named Aakash, the representative stated that our request had been reviewed and sent us the following message:
“I have confirmed that you want to change the domain name vakiatr.com to pijamavakti.com. Please let me know whether you would also like to keep the vakiatr.com domain.”
This response clearly gave us the impression that the requested domain name change had been approved and would be processed.
During the same conversation, the representative requested the one-time verification code (OTP) that had been sent to our email address, explaining that it was necessary to complete the requested change. Trusting that we were dealing with an authorized representative of a global company, we provided the verification code and allowed access to our account. However, immediately after accessing our account, the representative completely changed their position and informed us that the requested domain change could not be performed. Instead, we were told that the existing domain could only be deleted and that we would have to purchase the new domain from scratch at full price. Requesting an OTP by giving the impression that a requested service has been approved, only to reverse that position after gaining account access, is misleading and undermines customer trust.
Our account still has approximately 16 months remaining on the registration of vakiatr.com. Despite this, GoDaddy refused to transfer or rename the domain to pijamavakti.com, did not offer any refund or credit for the unused registration period, and repeatedly insisted that we would have to pay again for a brand-new domain registration. Furthermore, when we requested the Chat Case ID or Interaction ID for the live support session so that we could use it in our formal complaint, the representative refused to provide that information. Instead, we received only repetitive copy-and-paste responses that prevented any meaningful resolution. The chat reference number for this conversation is 170269345.
We respectfully request that GoDaddy resolve the harm caused by its representative's misleading guidance and subsequent reversal of position. Specifically, we ask that our existing domain, vakiatr.com, be changed to pijamavakti.com in accordance with our registered trademark rights, while preserving the approximately 16 months of remaining registration on the current domain and without requiring any additional payment.
