My Loan Was Approved Late and Interest Rate Increased to 584 at Garanti Bank
On the night of Sunday, May 18, 2025, I applied for a 36-month consumer loan of ₺125,000 from Garanti Bank, where I am already a retirement customer, because they were offering a 2.74% interest rate. I was informed that my loan was pre-approved and that I could proceed through the branch. On May 22, 2025, I received a call from the branch to continue the process, so I went there. While I was on my way, I received a message stating that my loan had been approved—only to discover that the approved rate was 5.84%. At the branch, I explained the situation, but the representative told me the campaign had ended and this was now the lowest available rate. However, the fault is not mine. Garanti Bank delayed the approval by exactly four days, even though I applied within the campaign period and had already received pre-approval. The bank’s failure to respond on time caused me to lose access to the campaign rate. I will report this issue to CİMER and, if necessary, take the matter to the Consumer Rights Court. It is unfair that I am being denied the originally offered loan terms due to a delay that is not my fault, and I will pursue legal action to defend my rights.
