Garanti Bank Bonus Card Annual Membership Fee Issue
On April 15, 2024, Garanti Bank charged me ₺583 for a yearly membership fee on my Bonus credit card, ending with the digit 1015. I formally request that these dues be canceled in accordance with the applicable legal regulations, with no extra restrictions. Article 31, paragraph 3 of the Consumer Law, published May 28, 2014, states that "issuing institutions must provide consumers with a type of credit card that does not charge an annual membership fee or similar fees." Furthermore, pursuant to Article 6 of Law No. 4077, as amended by Law No. 4822, concerning unfair terms in contracts, the membership fee levied by your bank does not correlate to any service, making it an unfair term. The 13th Civil Chamber's verdict also requires refunds for card fees that were applied retroactively. As a result, I want a refund of the membership fee based on these laws and legal precedents. If this problem is not resolved quickly, I will report it to the Consumer Arbitration Board and consider canceling my card and accounts. Your fast intervention in this case is greatly appreciated.
