On July 16, I purchased a FlixBus ticket for the 7:20 PM trip from Bremen to Hamburg. Since I don’t speak German, I was unable to buy tickets for my two children. When I explained the situation to the driver, he said he didn’t have time to handle it at that moment and would collect payment upon arrival — then confiscated my passport for the entire duration of the trip.
When we arrived, I told him that keeping my passport was illegal, which led to a heated argument. My children and spouse were terrified by the situation. The driver then charged me twice the normal fare for my children — while I paid €17 for two adults, he demanded €30 for the children and did not provide any receipt.
If I hadn’t gotten my passport back, I wouldn’t have been able to leave the country the next day, as we had a flight scheduled. This experience was frightening, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.
