Clinique Refuses Refund After Moisture Surge Cream Burns Customer's Skin

On June 16th, I purchased the Clinique Moisture Surge 30 ml moisturizer online. To try the product for the first time, I applied just about a drop to my skin, but shortly afterward I felt a serious burning sensation and developed redness on my skin.
When I subsequently requested a return, I was told they could not accept the return under any circumstances because the product had been opened. There was no way for me to know whether the product would agree with my skin without opening it, and I explained this to them as well. Despite this, it was disappointing to see a brand I considered so established and trustworthy take such a rigid, customer-unfriendly approach.
Taking into account the sensitivity and grievance I've experienced, I am requesting that a return be processed for the product associated with order number 7064490316, and that a more flexible, customer-friendly process be implemented for skin reactions of this kind.
