CamScanner used to let me convert images to text (OCR), but now that feature is gone or has become paid. What should I do?

The OCR (text recognition) feature in CamScanner was originally partially available for free, but over time it was moved into the premium feature category.

Check your plan — in the free version, OCR is only available in a limited form (for example, a few pages per month), while the premium version offers it without limits.

What you can do:

Restore your subscription (if it was paid for but not activated — use Restore Purchases in the settings).

If you don’t have a subscription, use the limited free OCR quota.

Try alternative apps with free OCR (such as Google Lens, Adobe Scan, or Microsoft Lens).

If the feature disappeared suddenly, make sure the app is updated. Sometimes bugs cause features to disappear and they are restored in later versions.

If OCR was included in your paid subscription but is now missing, contact CamScanner support and provide your payment receipt.

If CamScanner removed access to a previously paid feature or suddenly restricted it without notice, file a complaint on Xolvie. This helps ensure transparency and protect your rights.
