Can you leave a Bestway frame pool outside in winter, and how to prepare it properly — clear and practical guidance:
Can you leave the pool outside?
Mild winters (rarely below –5°C):
Some Bestway models can stay outside, but only with full winterization.
Cold winters (below –10…–15°C):
You cannot leave the pool outdoors — the liner becomes brittle and cracks, seams split, and metal parts rust.
In most colder regions, the pool must be disassembled.
How to prepare the pool (winterization)
Option 1 — Leave outside (warm regions only):
• Drain water below inlet/outlet level.
• Remove pump, filter, hoses — store indoors.
• Add winterizing chemicals.
• Place floats/bottles to absorb ice pressure.
• Cover with a heavy winter tarp.
• Remove heavy snow from the top.
Option 2 — Full disassembly (recommended):
• Drain and clean the liner.
• Dry completely.
• Disassemble frame, dry metal parts.
• Store indoors above +5°C.
• Fold liner gently without sharp creases.
Why you must not leave it unprepared:
Freezing water expands and tears walls, liner cracks, frame bends, pumps break in frost.
