Zillow listed a home for sale that I was interested in, but I learned that it had already been sold. How can I find out about a property's true status on Zillow?

Zillow doesn't provide a surefire method to verify the availability of a property. Even after a listing has sold or is no longer available, it may still be visible to potential buyers. There are, however, measures you can do to improve your data-finding odds.

It all starts with a direct message to the listing agent. The likelihood that they will have current information increases the earlier you contact them. Make sure you inquire as to whether the property is available, under contract, or has already been sold. Efficient communication is key to avoiding time wastage.

After that, look over the listing details very carefully. If there has been a recent update, you can see what the property's state is by looking at the "Last Updated" date. Look for words like "pending sale" or "sold" in the description; they can indicate when the item will be available again.

In addition, Zillow provides tools such as Zestimate, which, while not 100% accurate, can occasionally provide signs of market activity. Make sure you don't miss any updates or new listings by creating saved searches for comparable properties. If you want to be sure the property is still listed, you can check local MLS listings and other real estate websites.

If none of the above solutions work, please feel free to share your experience. You can also file a complaint on our website.
