WeChat removed my linked bank card unexpectedly, how can I add it back and pay abroad?

If WeChat suddenly took away your linked bank card and you want to put it back so you can use it to pay for things abroad, here are some steps you should take and things you should make sure of:

First, open WeChat and go to Me > Settings > General > Tools to make "Wallet" available.

Then, tap "Add a Card" from the list of option. Enter the exact information about your card (card number, expiration date, name, billing address) and go through any proof steps that are asked of you (SMS or bank-OTP).

Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and Discover are now accepted by WeChat Pay for people from other countries.

The requirements are that your WeChat app is up to date, you have a phone number that can receive SMS, and if you are not a Chinese user, you must have a legal ID (passport).
