I Pay for Suno but Copyright Filters Block Most Cover Song Creations
I am a professional musician who actively performs live and has been using Suno’s entry-level subscription plan for approximately two months, paying around $11 per month. I primarily use the platform to generate musical ideas, create arrangements, and develop cover versions of popular songs for my live performances and social media content.
However, due to Suno’s copyright detection and enforcement system, I have reached a point where creating cover songs has become almost impossible. Even though Suno offers cover and mashup features, my projects are frequently blocked because of copyright-related restrictions affecting either the lyrics or the music. As a result, many of the songs I would like to work with cannot be generated or completed through the platform.
I always make it clear when sharing content on social media which artist or songwriter originally created the work. Despite this, Suno’s current system appears to prevent legitimate cover creation in many situations, making the feature far less useful than advertised. This is negatively affecting my workflow as a musician and leaves me feeling that I am not receiving the full value of the service I am paying for.
I would like Suno to provide a clearer and more practical solution regarding copyright restrictions on cover songs. If cover and mashup tools are actively promoted and offered to users, they should be supported by a reasonable and transparent copyright policy that allows legitimate cover creation whenever possible. I request that Suno review this issue, improve the user experience for cover production, and provide a fair solution as soon as possible. Otherwise, I will seriously consider canceling my subscription and moving to another platform.
