Fake Lawyer Demands $2,647 from Soyo App User in Sextortion Scam
While using the Soyo app to make friends and play games, I met someone with whom I later exchanged sexually explicit messages, videos, and photos over WhatsApp. Today, an individual claiming to be a mediator from the Adana Bar Association called me via a regular phone call, stating that he had seen the messages and media, that the girl's father had gotten involved, and that she had been beaten and hospitalized.
This person stated that if I paid $2,647, he would withdraw the complaint; otherwise, I would have to deal with the prosecutor's office and the police. Furthermore, he recited my national ID number and the names of my family members one by one, threatening to send the chat logs and explicit media to my relatives. I did not make any payment, but I have been subjected to severe psychological pressure and threats throughout this ordeal.
Because this process originated on the Soyo app, I believe there are major deficiencies regarding user safety and moderation. I demand that fake and fraudulent profiles of this nature be identified and banned, that necessary controls be tightened to prevent similar grievances, and that a thorough investigation be conducted regarding the incident I experienced.
