Factory Battery Defect Causes $2,917 Alternator and Engine Damage in 2024 Seat Leon
Around the time my 2024 Seat Leon 1.0 eTSI warranty expired, a serious failure occurred in the vehicle due to the factory-installed battery. Warnings began appearing on the dashboard reading "Error: Drive system. Please visit workshop." and "Error: 48V supply. Please do not drive. See owner's manual!" forcing me to bring the car to the authorized service center in Ordu Fatsa.
During inspections at the service center, technicians determined that the battery, alternator, and tensioner pulley had failed as a direct result of the original factory-installed battery. For this repair, I was charged approximately $2,556 for parts and $361 for labor, totaling around $2,917. It is unacceptable that such severe damage occurred in a relatively new vehicle—one that ran flawlessly under warranty until recently—due to a factory battery flaw, with the full financial burden shifted onto me.
I believe this issue stems entirely from a manufacturer defect, and I demand that the manufacturer cover or refund the $2,917 I was forced to pay for parts and labor. I request that costs resulting from a factory flaw not be passed on to the consumer and that my grievance be resolved immediately.
