If you completed a purchase with PayPal but didn't receive a receipt or invoice, you can still benefit from Buyer Protection for your purchases. While having a receipt or invoice strengthens your case, it's not mandatory for accessing Buyer Protection.

Buyer Protection covers eligible online purchases made with PayPal, as well as payments processed through our website. To take advantage of Buyer Protection, ensure your account is in good standing and file a dispute within 180 days of your purchase or payment.

Purchase Protection covers the following types of transactions:

• You might get something different from what was described, like a DVD instead of a book.
• You might also get something used instead of brand new.
• Not getting the full amount of items bought;
• Getting an item that was badly damaged in shipping;
• Not getting major parts of an item that the seller didn't report;
• Getting a fake instead of a real item

Buyer Protection does not cover all transactions, though. Here are some examples:

• Real estate
• Cars and trucks
• Custom-made items that the seller doesn't accurately describe;
• Travel tickets; • Industrial equipment;
• Things or services that can be used as money, like gift cards or prepaid cards
• Things that don't follow PayPal's rule
• People who bought something in person (not online)
• Claims filed more than 180 days after the purchase for items not received or not as described
• Items that are exactly what the seller said they were for claims that they were not as described.
