Instagram Unfairly Suspended My Account - Appeals Are Being Ignored
My Instagram account was suspended on May 31 with no warning or clear explanation. At first I was confused. Then I discovered that my teenage cousin had accessed my phone without permission and posted a comment through my account. In that comment he described and criticised the actions of radical Islamist groups. He stated that they are not worthy of respect and that people should fear them and keep their distance. Because he openly described these actions in order to criticise them the algorithm most likely flagged the content. As a result my account was suspended. However simply describing an action does not mean supporting it. In this case the intention was clearly to oppose and condemn those acts and the ideology behind them. There was no threat no insult no hate speech and no incitement of violence. I submitted multiple appeals to Instagram explaining the situation. I clearly stated that the comment was not written by me and that its intent was not to promote harm. Still my appeals were automatically rejected and I received no specific feedback. It seems no human ever reviewed my case. I am requesting a fair manual review of my account. I believe the suspension was based on a misinterpretation by the automated system. I respectfully ask that the comment be assessed in its full context and that my account be reinstated.
