As a Garanti BBVA customer, I do not actively use my credit card. While I have never had any issues with the statement payments of my other credit cards, a ₺1,360 annual card fee was charged to the statement of my Garanti Bonus Business credit card ending in 1011, dated 19/02/2025.
I request the cancellation of this fee immediately, as required by the following legal provisions and without any additional conditions:
According to Article 31, Paragraph 3 of the Consumer Protection Law dated May 28, 2014, card issuers are required to offer consumers a type of credit card that does not charge an annual membership fee or similar charges.
Under Article 6 of the Consumer Protection Law No. 4077, amended by Law No. 4822, the membership fee charged by your bank constitutes an unfair contract term, as it does not correspond to any actual service provided.
According to the decision of the 13th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation (File No: 2011/4736, Decision No: 2011/11579) and the General Assembly of Civil Chambers (File No: 2010/1-93-88), it has been definitively ruled that retroactively charged card fees must also be refunded.
For these reasons, I request the immediate refund of the charged annual card fee. If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will file a complaint with relevant authorities such as the Banks Association and the Consumer Arbitration Committee. Furthermore, if the card fee is not canceled, I will proceed with closing my card, account, and foreign currency account. As a 15-year customer, your representative has failed to offer any solution. Clearly, your bank does not need money, and this is truly disgraceful.
