FileWorld Charges Hidden $39.95 Subscription Fees After $0.60 Document Download
I am filing this complaint about File World due to what I consider extremely deceptive billing and subscription practices. I initially used their service believing I would receive a free download of a converted file. After realizing it was not actually free, I proceeded with what I understood to be a small, one‑time payment of 0.60 USD for a single document. At no point during the checkout did I clearly see or knowingly agree to a recurring subscription. Despite this, File World later charged my card 39.95 USD twice for a “plan_limited” subscription that I never knowingly signed up for. I did not receive clear, prominent information that I was entering into a paid subscription, nor was there an obvious, explicit opt‑in. The recurring charges only became apparent to me after they had already been taken. In my view, this practice is misleading and does not meet basic standards of transparency and informed consent. A legitimate subscription should be clearly explained, with visible disclosures and an explicit choice, not hidden in a way that causes customers to be charged unexpectedly. I request that File World immediately cancel any active subscription associated with my account and card, and refund the two 39.95 USD subscription charges as well as the initial 0.60 USD payment, since it was made under the impression of a fair and transparent one‑time transaction. I also expect File World to review and correct its checkout and subscription practices so that other customers do not experience similar issues in the future.
