My microphone is not working or I can’t hear other participants in a Discord voice chat, what should I do?

If in a voice chat others can’t hear you or you can’t hear them, the problem may be in your device, browser, or network settings.

What to check:

Check audio settings in Discord:

Settings → Voice & Video.

Make sure the correct microphone and speakers are selected.

Click Check Mic to test.

Check permissions:

On computer: Windows → Privacy → Microphone → Allow apps to use the microphone.

In browser (if using Discord Web): allow microphone access.

Disable “Automatically determine input sensitivity” and adjust the threshold manually.

Restart your device or reconnect your headset.

Use the “Reset Voice Settings” button in Discord’s settings.

If the issue persists — test your microphone in other apps (Zoom, Skype) or try another device.
