CCleaner broke some apps after cleaning — how can I restore them?

CCleaner can break apps if registry cleaning or aggressive cleanup removed shared keys or cached files the apps still need.

First, open CCleaner and use the Registry > Backup feature to restore the registry backup created before cleaning, then restart your PC.

If no backup exists, reinstalling the affected apps usually recreates missing registry entries and dependencies.

For system apps or drivers, running Windows System Restore to a point before the cleanup is often the fastest fix.

Going forward, many experienced users avoid CCleaner’s registry cleaner entirely, as modern Windows manages the registry safely on its own.

Using CCleaner only for temporary files and browser cache greatly reduces the risk of app breakage.
