If your SBI (State Bank of India) account got locked or marked inactive after long inactivity, it’s because SBI designates accounts as inoperative when there’s no customer-initiated transaction for about two years, and then some features (like online access or withdrawals) are restricted until you reactivate.

Reactivation mainly involves updating your KYC and making at least one transaction so the bank treats it as active again.

The most reliable way is to visit any SBI branch with your updated ID/address proofs (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.), submit a reactivation/KYC update request, and perform a small transaction. SBI typically processes reactivation within a few working days.

If you can still log into YONO or Internet Banking, you may be able to submit a service request or update KYC online, and then make a transaction (like a small transfer) to trigger reactivation without visiting a branch.

If none of the above solutions work, please feel free to share your experience. You can also file a complaint on our website.
