Instagram Auto-Views My Friends' Stories Without My Consent After Exploring Profiles

April 21, 2025 12:13 PM34

There’s a serious issue with Instagram that’s making me look like I’m watching people’s stories when I’m not. Whenever I view someone’s story from the Explore page or search results—especially profiles I don’t follow—Instagram automatically starts showing me the stories of people I actually follow right after the last story of the searched profile ends.

This means I’m unknowingly and unintentionally viewing my friends’ stories, and it shows up as if I’ve watched them. It’s extremely frustrating because I’m not trying to interact, yet Instagram is making me appear as if I’m doing so. This creates unnecessary misunderstandings and makes me look like I’m checking people’s stories constantly—which I’m not!

Instagram, you need to fix this auto-play issue immediately. I should have full control over whose stories I view and when. This glitch is affecting my experience and my privacy.
