Skoda Charges for Traffic Sign Recognition Feature That Never Works
In December 2024, I purchased my Skoda Scala 1.5 TSI Premium vehicle from the And Otomotiv Skoda dealership in Ankara. During the sale, it was specifically stated that the vehicle had a traffic sign recognition feature, and I paid for this equipment and took delivery of the vehicle on that basis. However, this feature has not been active since the day I got the vehicle, and every time I start the car, I see a warning message on the screen indicating that this feature isn't working.
When I contacted the authorized service center and the dealership about the issue, I was told that Skoda doesn't enable this feature due to software reasons — in other words, that the system is being kept deliberately disabled. At no point during the sale was I told that this feature was disabled, unusable, or software-restricted. Despite this, being charged as though the equipment were present, only for the feature to turn out to be unusable, has caused me both financial and emotional harm.
I purchased this vehicle trusting the equipment I was told it had, including the traffic sign recognition feature. For this reason, I am requesting that this feature either be enabled for full, free use, or that the amount paid for this equipment be refunded, or that a reasonable price reduction be provided. I want this grievance I've experienced to be taken seriously by the brand and resolved quickly.
