Cat Got Sick After Purina Gourmet Tuna Food? Vomiting & Diarrhea Warning Signs

On September 29–30, I bought Purina Gourmet Chopped Tuna Wet Cat Food from Migros and gave it to my cat. Shortly afterward, my cat began experiencing serious health problems — first vomiting, then diarrhea, loss of appetite, and weakness. On October 1, diarrhea was added to the symptoms, and for about a week now, my cat has been receiving treatment at the veterinary clinic, including IV fluids and antibiotics. The treatment is still ongoing.

I had previously fed my cat other varieties of Purina Gourmet without any issues. However, this is the first time I’ve encountered such a severe problem with this particular product. I purchased a single can from Migros for about $1 (possibly at a discounted price). The expiration date had not passed, but since I threw away the can, I’m unable to provide the batch or serial number.

I have since learned that there have been similar poisoning complaints about this cat food before. I urge the company to pay closer attention to its production, testing, and quality-control processes—especially for the Chopped Tuna variety—to conduct the necessary inspections, and to take preventive actions so that no other cats fall ill in the same way. I also hope my complaint helps raise awareness among other cat owners.
