To stop the Roborock Q8 Max+ from mopping carpets, open the app and turn on the "Rise" carpet-avoidance mode. This mode will automatically lift the mop when it hits a carpet and stop the water flow.
Then, in your map settings, make "No-Mop Zones" around rugs or carpets. This will stop the robot from spraying water on them or mopping over them, but based on the mode setup, it may still vacuum or go through those areas.
If the robot still mops rugs even though there are zones, try setting up two different cycles: one to vacuum only carpet areas and the other to mop hard floors.
According to official instructions, if you connect the mopping module, the robot may treat areas that don't have a mop as no-go zones.
Doing vacuum-only jobs or taking off the module can help make sure that all of the carpets are cleaned without getting them wet.
