Complaint About Gourmet Gold Wet Cat Food – Product Caused Severe Poisoning and Death

On October 16, 2025, I purchased Gourmet Gold Beef Wet Cat Food from a local market and fed it to my 7-year-old cat, who was completely healthy. After eating approximately 40 grams, my cat suddenly lost control of his two back legs and became paralyzed within five minutes.
I immediately rushed him to a veterinary clinic. Upon learning that I had given him wet food, the veterinarian specifically asked for the brand name, and when I said Gourmet, she stated that the cat might have been poisoned.
Veterinary tests revealed that all of my cat’s enzyme levels had spiked, with severe abnormalities in cardiac enzymes and inflammation levels at 98%. He was at extreme risk of a heart attack, in visible pain, unresponsive to his surroundings, and acting aggressively. He was struggling to breathe, gasping for air, and developed purple discoloration in his mouth and body. The vets said his chances of surviving the night were very low.
He was placed in an incubator for intensive care. After 20 hours, his inflammation level dropped to 62%, and his breathing slightly improved. However, the first 48 hours were critical. On the second day in the incubator, my cat’s condition worsened, and he passed away on the morning of October 18, 2025.
Despite multiple reports of similar adverse reactions among other cats, Gourmet Gold products continue to be sold, which I find unacceptable.
I demand that Gourmet Gold products be urgently investigated and recalled, and that the public be informed to prevent other pet owners from suffering the same heartbreaking loss.
