OmeTV Forces Android Users to Install Unsafe APK Instead of Google Play Update
While using the OmeTV app on my Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus phone running Android 13, the app prompted me to install an update. However, instead of redirecting me to the Google Play Store, the update link pointed to an APK file, which I did not consider safe, so I was unable to proceed with the update. Despite the app displaying a mandatory update warning, there is no update option available through the Google Play Store.
I have been experiencing this issue for approximately three days, and I see that many people around me, as well as users online, have been facing the same problem for weeks. I am aware that there are certain restrictions on Play Store access and updates in Turkey, but even so, I expect OmeTV to provide a secure and official update method instead of directing users to APK files. Being forced to download an APK just to use the app creates a security risk and puts users at a disadvantage.
I request that OmeTV provide Android users in Turkey with an official, secure, one-click update channel such as the Google Play Store or a similar trusted platform, and that this mandatory APK update issue be resolved urgently.
