In Minecraft, villagers can go missing for a number of reasons, but it's possible to keep them from going missing. Attacks by zombies are common, so you need to put up high walls around your town to keep them out. Also, make sure your town has enough iron golems to protect it, and keep the area well-lit with torches or other lights to stop zombies from coming out.

Bed arrangement is another thing to think about. To return after dying, villagers need beds within 16 blocks of their home. Make sure the beds are put in the right places, like on blocks that can be used as beds. If villagers' beds aren't placed correctly, they might not return, which would make them disappear.

People in the village can also leave if they don't like their work. Make sure that all of the locals are given jobs and that their places of work are ready to go. If people in the town don't like their jobs, they might leave to find a new place to live, which would make them disappear.

The behavior of villagers can also be affected by how big the town is. The most people that can live in a town at once is limited, and if it gets too big, some people may leave. If you need to, you can add more people to your village by building more homes and job sites.

Lastly, think about "world corruption" and "player interference". Being careful not to kill or teleport people out of the village by accident. In very rare cases, people may disappear because of broken chunks. If you think the chunk or the whole world is broken, try reloading it to fix the problem.
