You can use Etsy's case system to dispute a seller's request that you pay for the return shipping of a damaged item that you bought from them:
• Opening a Case: To begin, use the "Help with Order" link in your Purchases and Reviews section to get in touch with the seller directly. It's expected that sellers will answer within 48 hours. You can take the problem to the next level by opening a case with Etsy if you don't get a response or the problem isn't fixed within this time frame. Etsy will then be made aware of the problem and help you and the seller work out a solution.
• Case Eligibility: Before you open a case, make sure that your order meets certain requirements, such as being within the eligible time frame and that you have already told the seller about the problem. You can open a case if the item arrives damaged or doesn't match the listing description, among other things.
• Etsy's Purchase Protection Program: If a buyer's order doesn't meet their expectations, Etsy will give them a full refund. This includes items that show up late, are broken, or don't match the listing description. If your case fits Etsy's program, you can get a full refund, which includes the cost of shipping.
