Purina One Reduced Its Cat Food From 800g to 750g Without Lowering the Price
I do not consider it ethical for Purina One to reduce the amount of cat food in its packages while keeping the price unchanged. The product was previously sold in an 800-gram package, but it has now been reduced to 750 grams and continues to be sold at the same price. As a customer, this makes me feel misled.
Until recently, I could purchase the 800-gram package for approximately $11. Now I am required to pay the same amount for only 750 grams. The product is marketed and priced as though customers are purchasing a full kilogram, while the package size has been quietly reduced. This appears to be an untransparent and misleading practice.
Compared with similar products, the price per kilogram should be around $7–$8. However, Purina One’s current package size and pricing policy place it far above that range. I expect Purina to adopt a more transparent, fair, and consumer-focused approach to its package sizes and pricing and to end practices that amount to hidden price increases.
