Proton VPN blocked by country — how can I bypass restrictions and stay private?

If Proton VPN is blocked in your country and you want to stay private while trying to connect safely;

Confirm the block first;

• Try connecting on different networks (home Wi-Fi vs mobile data)
• Check if Proton VPN works on another device
• See if other VPNs are also blocked (common in restricted countries)
• Note any error messages or endless connecting

Adjust Proton VPN settings;

• Open Proton VPN → Settings
• Switch protocols (WireGuard ↔ OpenVPN TCP)
• Enable Smart Protocol if available
• Disable Kill Switch temporarily and retry
• Turn on Alternative routing (very important in restricted regions)

Try different servers;
