Microsoft Won’t Restore My 30-Year-Old Hotmail Account Despite Repeated Requests
I have been using my Hotmail account for approximately 30 years, but it has been blocked for the past three to four years, and I have been unable to regain access despite numerous attempts.
When I originally created the account, I registered a TTMail email address as my recovery email. However, TTMail is no longer an active email service. Unfortunately, Microsoft's automated account recovery system does not recognize that this recovery service no longer exists, leaving me unable to complete the recovery process through the available options.
I am 68 years old, and I can no longer remember historical security details such as old passwords or the answers to security questions from many years ago. Because I cannot provide this information, I am unable to recover my account. At the same time, Microsoft does not provide me with access to a live customer support representative or any form of manual assistance, leaving me with no practical way to verify my identity.
This Hotmail account is extremely important to me. In addition to containing decades of personal emails, it is also the primary account associated with my old mobile phone. Because I no longer have access to the account, I cannot remove the activation lock or reset the phone to factory settings, which means I am unable to sell or reuse the device. As a result, this issue has affected both my digital life and caused financial inconvenience.
Although I have submitted similar complaints in the past, I have never received a meaningful response or a practical solution. After years without progress, I feel completely ignored and have exhausted every automated recovery option available.
I respectfully request that Microsoft take my age and circumstances into consideration, perform a manual identity verification instead of relying solely on automated recovery systems, and restore access to my Hotmail account. I also ask Microsoft to recognize that the TTMail recovery service no longer exists and to provide an alternative recovery method so that I can once again access my email account as its legitimate owner.
