Microsoft Account Recovery Form Does Not Work With Two-Factor Authentication
I have been using my Hotmail/Outlook account continuously for approximately 20 to 21 years, but I am now unable to sign in through Windows. I do not remember my password, and because two-step verification is enabled, I cannot make any progress through the account recovery process. This is my primary email account, and nearly all of my other accounts, personal information, and important data are connected to it.
Approximately one week ago, I signed out of the account on Windows. When I attempted to sign back in, I realized that I could not remember the password. When I tried the available recovery options, the only usable option displayed was sending a verification code to my registered mobile phone number. The other recovery methods do not work, and I no longer have access to the secondary email address listed on the account. Despite repeatedly trying different sign-in methods and password reset steps, I have been unable to regain access.
I also completed Microsoft’s account recovery form regarding this issue. However, I received an email stating that the form cannot be used for accounts with two-step verification enabled and that the account therefore could not be recovered through that process. Losing access to an account that I have actively used for decades and that is connected to all of my important information has caused me significant hardship.
I respectfully request that Microsoft conduct a detailed security review, verify that I am the legitimate owner of the account, and restore my access. I am prepared to provide additional information or documentation, including identification, if required. My only goal is to regain access to the account as its rightful owner.
